How To Sell On eBay: High Demand, Low Competition
As mentioned in an earlier blog post this week, I've been investigating the camping & RV niche. The amount of items related to this very lucrative niche is mind boggling! The problem is, if you don't camp - and I DON'T - then it's hard to know exactly what sells in this niche. I found some help with an article about family camping and what's necessary:
There are a lot of possibilites suggested by this article, like camp sites (great niche for "travel"), tents & sleeping bags, special food, clothing and equipment. Honestly, it seems to me that this niche is wide open.
For instance, there are only 427 items listed under "tents and canopies:. That isn't very much, especially since there are non-tent items like "GL0W / LIGHT STICKS FOR CAMPING FUN IN TENT!" and "LOT/3 Pkgs/Coleman 10 inch Steel Nail Tent Pegs/Camping". Useful items, perhaps, but not competitors for more lucrative tent traffic.
Overture/Yahoo Search reports the following results for the keyword "tents":
91925 tent
15368 tent trailer
13919 camping tent
This is killer demand - and eBay sellers aren't much competition. In short, this fits the definition of a high demand, low competition niche.
PS: This article also confirms my suspicion about camping when it mentions, "Things such as snake bites or wandering wild life can really put a dampener on a family camping adventure." Obviously, I will never win the title of Outdoor Girl. :-)
