eBay Selling Niche: Sewing Machines & Accessories

An interesting eBay selling niche to me centers around sewing and sewing machines - mostly because I used to sew all my own clothes. I even made such items as my own leather jackets, which is amazing to me now since I spend my life sitting at a computer and don't have time any more.

I read a fascinating article on antique Singer sewing machines and decided to see if there is a market on eBay. And there is indeed ...

Of course, there are many antique sewing machines that sell for lower prices - much lower prices. And there are the new machines that are thrown into the mix. All in all, this niche would require a lot of work to sort out. Sewing machine prices seem to be all over the map and I am clueless about why one vintage machine is worth a great deal of money, while others are relatively inexpensive. For that matter, I don't understand why anyone even an old machine, except perhaps as a piece of Americana or art.

Verdict: without considerable knowledhe or study, determining the practicality of this niche is not possible.

Hello! That is my listing you have captured an image of. :) The old machines were made with a quality that was built to last. I have a 'new' high dollar machine which stays neatly put away on a shelf. It just will not sew to the perfection nor quality as my little old Singer Featherweight. Interesting post you have here, though... I just couldn't help but comment when I knew that was my auction you have featured. Kind Regards, April
