Cody Moya Is A Spammer
I am truly tired of 'famous' Net marketers who won't allow you to unsubscribe from their newsletters, so I've decided to just name names, and Cody Moya is one. I have unsubscribed from his list multiple times, as you can see below:

Yes, I've contacted the email address on this picture and asked to be removed ... to no avail. I continue to get these unwanted messages! Moya is a skilled marketer and certainly knows how to manage an email system, so there can be no excuse about how he 'didn't know'. And the thing is that this is an absurd way to do business. Yes, I'm annoyed about this and you can be sure that I will never buy anything from him or through an affiliate link of his. Therefore, not unsubscribing me is pointless.
A few weeks ago there was a big controversy in the Warrior forum when Moya asked people to drop out of a program and re-subscribe through his affiliate link. He said that it was the fault of his assistant. This has gotta make me wonder.

eBay Selling Niche: Sewing Machines & Accessories
An interesting eBay selling niche to me centers around sewing and sewing machines - mostly because I used to sew all my own clothes. I even made such items as my own leather jackets, which is amazing to me now since I spend my life sitting at a computer and don't have time any more.
I read a fascinating article on antique Singer sewing machines and decided to see if there is a market on eBay. And there is indeed ...

Of course, there are many antique sewing machines that sell for lower prices - much lower prices. And there are the new machines that are thrown into the mix. All in all, this niche would require a lot of work to sort out. Sewing machine prices seem to be all over the map and I am clueless about why one vintage machine is worth a great deal of money, while others are relatively inexpensive. For that matter, I don't understand why anyone even
Verdict: without considerable knowledhe or study, determining the practicality of this niche is not possible.

Review: Forum Equalizer
I have just received an advertisement for a new product called Forum Equalizer and cannot refrain from commenting, no matter how unpopular I might be for my comments. Forum Equalizer is the latest in a product line created by Jeff Alderson, which includes Traffic Equalizer, Press Equalizer, Article Equalizer and more. Alderson's products frequently nudge the spam line, but this is an absolute disgrace!
The way it works is that you can write a post to a forum - and the software will automatically post it to "2100+" forums without the poster ever having to log on to said forum. The point, of course, is to get tons of backlinks - backlinks that the user hasn't earned and doesn't deserve.
One of the ironies of the piece of trash is that the advertising email states, "Submitting to more than a few forums sucks your valuable time dry!" Question for Alderson and his partner, Rod Beckworth: what about the time of the forum participants? what about the time of the forum owner who will have to delter this stuff? Clearly, that is irrelevant. The very nature of a forum is that it is a community, a source where people share. Forum Equalizer completely negates that entire concept.
There are only two groups who will be interested in this software:
1. Those who are totally selfish and care nothing for the good of the Net or the Internet marketing community. These are the same people who complain loudly about the price of products they have to buy - while feeling mistreated if they don't receive top dollar for the stuff they are selling.
2. Newbies, who don't understand what the marketing game is about and truly believe this is a shortcut to high SEO position. It isn't.
Message to both groups: this won't work for long - it at all. Google is Top Dog in SEO these days and they have large numbers of employees and bazillions of dollars to spend in combatting this kind of junk. Can we really believe they don't know about this? Are we to assume that they won't quickly find a way to negate these kinds of posts?
Sadly, the way they will most likely put a stop to this will be to discount all legitimate links coming from forums, from those folks who work hard to include thoughtful and helpful posts. We've all seen this same cycle many times: blog spam on this very blog being a case in point. Legitimate traffic sources work - and then here come the spoilers who want to find the easy way out.
The word for this is SPAM! Yes, spam, spam, spam. Let's not kid ourselves that since it isn't email related, it isn't spam. And Alderson and Beckworth know better. And clearly don't care. Their profits are all that matter.
Oh, and by the way, if you buy Spam Equalizer, you get a bonus ... it's called Guestbook Equalizer and its sole purpose is to spam guestbooks in the same way.

Asthma & Selling On eBay
In the last year, I've had two outbreaks of bronchitis and a friend recently suggested that I might be developing asthma. Since I've never had any breathing difficulties, I went searching for information and found some causes of asthma that definitely applied to me ... like my two adorable & fiendish cats. I can see their hair floating in beams of sunlight as they wreak havoc in my house, so perhaps I do have the beginnings of asthma. Depressingly, it's possible to develop it in later in life, even if you're been free for decades.
Naturally, I decided to see if there is an active eBay trade in asthma items and discovered that it's a very small niche - only 214 items come up for the keyword 'asthma'. The range of products is interesting, though:
1. Portable nebulizer
2. ID bracelet, warning of an asthmatic condition - just in case
3. Asthma books
4. A peak flow meter
And a really interesting product, to me - a breathing resistance trainer. I've seen those before and found them interesting because it seems as though they might be good for anyone, asthmatic or not. The idea is that you breathe into it, and it offers resistance: "... is weight training for your respiratory muscles. It will increase your lung capacity by as much as 25%. And you can see results in as little as two weeks. It is easy to use and there are no harmful drugs going into your system." The price is only $29 and I've seen them in other places for much more.
So, could this be a profitable eBay niche? I can't know without further research, but selling on eBay doesn't have to be in giant areas. Sometimes dominating a very small niche like this one can be profitable. One thing is for sure ... there are many, many asthma sufferers on this planet so we know that demand is quite strong.

Baseball Card Values Just Got A Little Easier
If you selli baseball cards on eBay or elsewhere your baseball card values are of prime importance if you want maximum profits (and who doesn't?) Some of these cards sell for astronomical sums of money:

Years ago I discovered that selling these cards isn't as simple as it seems, though. My daughter's boy friend asked me to sell some of his cards on eBay. Checking around, I found a card that sold for about $2500 - and he had an identical card in his collection. Voila! Excitement on all fronts.
The problem, though, was that I didn't realize that baseball cards must be 'graded' for maximum value. I took some of the cards to a sports shop and was informed that the standard for baseball card prices is the PSA, Professional Sports Authenticator. The card owner didn't want to pay for PSA appraisals because he didn't want to risk money on cards that might be useless, or of low value.
However, a new online site, Card Pricer, (http://www.cardpricer.com) is attempting to remove at least some of the uncertainty of baseball card prices. Their site states, "CardPricer.com is the web's most comprehensive online baseball card price guide. Our software allows you to research cards, view cards, and organize cards in a way not previously possible."
The resources that are available to sellers today make online business ever easier. Three cheers for the Internet!

Antique Appraisal: Posters
If you're looking for an antique appraisal, you need to be specific about what you want to value. No appraiser is equally good at every object/field. In fact, the most specialized they are, they more likely to be good. For instance, antique posters ...
A new site that appraises the value of old posters has just opened its doors. It's run by an appraiser for the Antiques Roadshow, so if you come across any old goodies in Aunt Matilda's attic, here is the place to go. Currently appraisals are free, although we certainly can't expect them to remain that way.
According to their press release, "The prices of vintage film, travel and war posters has been escalating at a rapid rate over the past year, with several examples of large format advertising and propaganda ephemera selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars while a wide variety of posters are routinely selling in the ten to fifty thousand dollar range."

PayPal Problems: Access To Your Bank Account
Of all PayPal problems, one of the biggest is becoming verified. What many folks object to is allowing PayPal access to their bank account. There are benefits to being verified with PayPal. Up until now, the only way that could happen is that members who wanted to be verified had to add a bank account, and then confirm that bank account through a random deposit process that takes 2-3 business days.
However, eBay has added a new way which is an application for a PayPal credit card. If your application for the PayPal Plus credit card is approved, your account will automatically be verified on PayPal. This option is faster, plus it eliminates the bank account requirement, which has been a barrier for many members.

Very Popular eBay Selling Niche: Fishing
When looking around for niches on eBay, sporting goods is always one of the very best. We love our sports! And fanatic sports lovers will spend vast sums on their hobby.
One of the most popular is fishing and there is all kinds of paraphernalia available that we can sell on eBay. For instance, this site:
introduced me to the 'fish finder'. Apparently this device uses sonar to map the bottom of the lake and discover if there is a fish or two between you and the bottom of the water. I've never heard of such technology, so out of curiosity I went to eBay to discover if they were for sale. There are 414 items that appear for the term "fish finder".
And if that isn't enough, there's also ...
* 60 items under "tobacciana", like
- Vintage metal fish ashtray fishing smoking accessories
- 1958 Pall Mall Cigarettes Fly Fishing Lures ad
* Or, 213 items in "Holiday, Seasonal "
- FROG FISHING BLOWN GLASS CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT
- PLUSH FISHING SANTA CLAUS 14 IN. MINT
There's fishing wallpaper, fishing clothes racks & key hangers, fishing clocks, fishing beer signs, fishing collectibles ("Mama Grizzly w-Cub Fishing Scrimshaw/Painting on Antler") and even a fishing sword. Amazing. And naturally, this doesn't include the more common items like fishing gear and clothes.
This is truly a very lucrative niche, and one where demand far exceeds supply.
PS: I think the fish finder is cheating! Come on, guys - give the fish a sporting chance.

How To Sell On eBay: High Demand, Low Competition
As mentioned in an earlier blog post this week, I've been investigating the camping & RV niche. The amount of items related to this very lucrative niche is mind boggling! The problem is, if you don't camp - and I DON'T - then it's hard to know exactly what sells in this niche. I found some help with an article about family camping and what's necessary:
There are a lot of possibilites suggested by this article, like camp sites (great niche for "travel"), tents & sleeping bags, special food, clothing and equipment. Honestly, it seems to me that this niche is wide open.
For instance, there are only 427 items listed under "tents and canopies:. That isn't very much, especially since there are non-tent items like "GL0W / LIGHT STICKS FOR CAMPING FUN IN TENT!" and "LOT/3 Pkgs/Coleman 10 inch Steel Nail Tent Pegs/Camping". Useful items, perhaps, but not competitors for more lucrative tent traffic.
Overture/Yahoo Search reports the following results for the keyword "tents":
91925 tent
15368 tent trailer
13919 camping tent
This is killer demand - and eBay sellers aren't much competition. In short, this fits the definition of a high demand, low competition niche.
PS: This article also confirms my suspicion about camping when it mentions, "Things such as snake bites or wandering wild life can really put a dampener on a family camping adventure." Obviously, I will never win the title of Outdoor Girl. :-)

Must I Be An Expert To Sell On eBay
A frequent question from would-be eBay sellers is: Must I be an expert to sell a product on eBay?
The answer is: it depends.
For example, I'm currently looking at guitars for sale on eBay and find 251163 entries. Certainly a healthy market so it might grab my interest. But there are two kinds of guitars for sale ... one is very specialized, fairly rare and quite expensive. The other kind is common and readily available.
Now if I'm going to sell expensive guitars (some of them are offered at $500,000) then I really need to know something about the subject. Looking around the Net I found this helpful site:
where I discover that there are three kinds of guitars:
1. Classical
2. Acoustic
3. Electric
It's clear that I'm kind to have to do a lot of learning if I'm going to be able to speak intelligently on this subject.
On the other hand, there are parts and accessories that are readily available in music stores and I don't really have to know much of anything to sell them because they're not rare or unusual.
The bottom line is how much work I'm prepared to do for an eBay niche, as balanced against the possible rewards. That is a totally individual decision.

What To Sell On eBay: RVs & Campers
Camping is a very popular activity in 21st century America. To me it's no accident that the word "camp" has four letters. When I think of camping, I think of sleeping on the ground with pebbles poking into my back, no plumbing, and worst of all, INSECTS. Big, hairy ones. Climbing all over me, especially when I'm sleeping.
I know there are folks who still camp this way, but apparently my thinking is outmoded because as I write I'm looking at some pretty impressive RVs, or recreational vehicles. No sleeping on the ground in these babies. The RV I'm looking at sold for $66,900.00 (auction 290044073543) and seems to be bigger and more luxurious than my first apartment.
The problem is that I don't know anything about RVs if I'm going to either buy one or sell them on eBay. Not to worry - the Net to the rescue. I found a nice looking RV site:
that enlightens me about RVs & campers.
1. Campers (that fit in the back of a pickup truck)
2. Van conversions or Class B motorhomes ( a cargo van converted into a camping vehicle)
3. Class C motorhomes (you could live in a Class C - and some folks probably do)
4. Class A motorhome (the roomiest of all motorized RVs)
5. Trailers
* The travel trailer you can pull behind a larger sedan or SUV
* 5th wheel trailer that hooks into the back of a pickup truck
I can hardly claim to be an expert, but at least it's a start.

eBay Selling Niches: Paintball
When selling on eBay, it's always important to focus on a niche and a very popular niche on and off eBay is paintball. Paintball seems to be that kind of specialized niche that Net marketers crave. While not as popular as golf, for instance, it's a niche that's deep, rather than broad. That is, the lovers of this game are quite passionate about it and willing to spend buckets of money.
I admit, though, that I don't exactly understand how it's played. So I went hunting for directions and found a site that explains the rules:
http://unitedpaintballsource.com/
Apparently, the players are divided into teams and it's all about capturing the opponent's flag. One question I have, though: do the guns shoot paint that doesn't fade? Meaning, do your paintball clothes quickly look like you just painted a 10 bedroom mansion? On eBay, they sell 'paintball clothing', like camoflage jackets, so it would seem that clothes aren't ruined. Actually, it sounds like a lot of fun and I wish I knew some other people that would be interested in a game.
One great thing, though - I don't have to be a paintball expert to set up a niche business around this lucrative subject. That's the beauty of the Net - we can have profitable auctions, stores and websites without years of first hand experience. How absolutely cool.

Good Health For eBay Selling Success
Building and maintaining a successful online business is more than just making money. To maximize our income, we absolutely must be in good health. If we're tired, ill or depressed we simply can't muster the necessary energy and focus to do what's necessary to make it happen.
We all know that exercise is a primary component of good health. I don't always like this aspect, but I can't deny the truth of it (there are days when I'd rather sprawl on the couch and watch the idiot box, instead of going for a walk :-). When you think of exercise, what comes to mind?
* Walking (my personal favorite)?
* Jogging?
* Biking?
* Sports?
Sports are a favorite way for many entrepreneurs because we can combine fun with healthy movement. Some sports are better suited for exercise than others, though. For instance, tennis causes more movement than horseback riding - although the horse gets a terrific workout!
Still, I hadn't thought of golf as an especially energetic sport. I've never played but I've surely seen "portly" guys riding around in their golf carts. But a site I recently visited, points out that golf CAN be healthy:
This interesting site explains "... according to Golf Science International, four hours of golf playing was found to be comparable to attending a forty five minute fitness class." To me, four hours sounds like a long time to play golf, but I know that golfers are passionate about the game. I can see that playing golf for four hours is more fun than a 45 minute class of sweating and puffing. The key, of course, is to get out of that golf cart and walk the greens.
So, if you're a golfing entrepreneur, you've just lost your last excuse for being a couch potato.

eBay Selling Power: Secrets Of An Auction Rebel
Next Monday, November 6, we are introducing a new CD called "Secrets Of An Auction Rebel". Why this name? It's because I AM an auction rebel. See, eBay runs their site solely for the benefit of eBay. Nothing at all wrong with that - it's exactly what we would do in their place.
BUT - eBay's best interests, and your best interests (and mine), aren't necessarily the same. In fact, often they aren't the same.
So I choose to act in a way that is best for my business - and you should, too. I am sometimes asked why I'm not an eBay Certified Provider (ECP). I could be. It wouldn't be hard. But I choose not to do so. Why? Because there are all kinds of eBay rules and restrictions that apply if you are an ECP. And I don't want to follow those extra rules.
So what's on this CD? There are many, many classes that are brand new - information that I don't usually share. For instance:
#1: What To Do When Your Fabulous, Wonderful Auction Stuff DOESN'T Sell!
Obviously, the best place to start is by doing your market research, in advance, so that you don't find yourself in this situation. For instance, here is an auction for a DeWalt Heavy Duty XRP 18Volt cordless jig saw. If you were offered these, would you know how to decide if it was a good item to sell on eBay?
Other ideas include:
+ Discover why you might want to RAISE your raise price when your widget isn't selling!
+ Know the three criteria that will tell you when to persist with a product and when to give up
#2: How To Put Audio Recordings On Your Auction Listings [Includes software]
It's no big news that the day of audio and video auctions has arrived! Ever since the number of computer users with high speed connection passed the 50% mark, multi-media auctions and websites have gone wild.
To put audio on your auctions, you need three things:
1. The how-to knowledge
2. Software for making your recording
3. Software to post your recording on your auction listing or website/web store - this software normally sells for $47
This class clearly explains how you can do make and post audios and provides the software to post your recording. We own the rights to this software and can give it away to you so it is included on the CD. We don't own the rights to the recording software, but we recommend the one we use - and it's only $29.95.
There are services on the Net that will allow you to make recordings online - but they either have a monthly charge or they have a monthly charge & charge per recording, as well.
This is a waste of money!
Making your own recordings is simple and you should take advantage of this 21st century technology.
Today: audio gives you an advantage
Someday soon: audio will be common and those
who don't have it will be at a disadvantage
Either way, you need to start recording immediately.
#3:A 7 Figure Per Year eBay Seller Explains His Simple & Efficient Shipping System
This audio interview is a real gem! Todd Taylor, a $1,000,000+ eBay seller, explains his shipping system. Todd's system is sooooooooooo smooth that it's almost easy to ship products. He explains:
+ How to get free boxes
+ How to print mailing labels on your computer
+ How to get packages picked up for FREE
+ How Todd prevents a dishonest buyer from whining, "I didn't get it - I want a refund" (and he does this for free)
+ Know the one European country you should avoid like the plague (Todd will no longer sell here even though he formerly mailed multiple packages each week)
+ Learn an extremely easy way to know to know which countries you can safely sell to
#4: Why Most Sellers FAIL On eBay - And Why YOU Don't Have To
This is an extremely powerful class! It's true that most sellers on eBay FAIL. If you don't understand why this is so, how can you avoid being one of them?
+ Learn the one "magic" principal that can change your thinking and remedy the eBay failure problem forever
+ Learn dead simple ways to make more money from each customer
+ How to make the bargain mentality of eBay buyers work FOR you, rather than AGAINST you
+ How to get buyers to pay you to advertise to them
There's much more, including more classes, a reference section and a special lesson taught by Lisa Suttora of WhatDoISell.com. And ...
For 3 Days Only: Special Bonus Items & A Price Reduction
BONUS #1: Learning From The Best
We need to learn from the best advertisers on the net and TV and here is a lesson we can learn from Winsor Pilates. I don't know if Mari Winsor's pilates is the best, but her advertising certainly is.
BONUS #2: A Conversation With Todd Taylor
Todd discusses all kinds of issues with a group of students, including what he sells, why he chose it and thoughts on success.
BONUS #3: Redirecting Methods
This AV was recorded by our technical expert, Jeremy, and it explains how to 'redirect' your links so that no one can identify them. This is especially important for affiliates to prevent"hi-jjacking" of your affiliate commissions.
BONUS #4: Traffic Boost News Ticker
This is one of those 'scroller' type programs that allows news (or whatever you want to include) to run across your computer screen. Sells for $69 online.
BONUS #5: Yahoo Store Profits
My friend Andy Jenkin's book is THE classic book on Yahoo stores and Andy has become quite wealthy by following his own advice.
BONUS #6: Impact Popups
This cool little utility will create 'unblockable' ads that can appear anywhere you wish on your pages. Eventually, someone will figure out how to stop them, exactly the way they did with popup windows. But for now, they work.
BONUS #7: Special, Special Bonus: worth $299!
By now, you've probably heard a piece of software called Techsmith Camtasia (price $299).
Camtasia allows you to make a video of your computer screen while you talk, thus also including audio (it's what we used to record all these classes).
So what? Well, videos are POWERFUL on the internet. They allow you to "rise above the noise" of words and emails and allow you to be more personal with your visitors or subscribers!
John Reese, Frank Kern, and many other marketers have personally accredited this tool to making them THOUSANDS of dollars. They tell you, "If you don't have it, go buy it NOW."
What's the problem?
Well, it's a bit pricey at $299. There are lots of people buying it at that price.
But you don't need to pay $299.
You see, an earlier version of Camtasia was released under General Public License which means you can download it for FREE.
Why doesn't everybody download the freebie instead of paying $299 for Camtasia?
That's because there are two MAJOR FLAWS with the older program...
1. Output Flash videos DON'T WORK in Firefox or Netscape. This is a HUGE problem for internet marketers, who don't want to frustrate users or prevent users from watching their "videoized" sales letters! Considering just Firefox
has had over 200 million downloads, you don't want this happening to your viewers!
2. There's no "redirect to URL after playing' option for your output Flash videos. John Reese says he was the first internet marketer to use this awesome feature in (the $299) Camtasia. This feature will redirect the viewer of the video to the URL of your choice when the movie ends. So you can make a video demonstrating a product or service and redirect your viewer immediately to the URL to buy! (This greatly increases conversion rates). But the old software doesn't have this option.
We've fixed these two problems.
We paid a programmer to edit the code under GPL license so that these two problems are FIXED. Output videos can now be viewed in Firefox AND can be redirected to a custom URL upon the end of the clip!
For those of you who don't want to pay for Camtasia, a must-have tool in any marketer's toolset, now you have the opportunity, without the $299 sticker shock.
In addition to these special goodies, the price will be lowered from $99 to $79

Selling Guitars On eBay
In a recent class, I asked my bright and wonderful students to send in auctions they thought were particularly good or particularly dreadful. I was surprised to receive one that is a 'good' deal (according to my student) for a $100,000 guitar! I had no idea there was so much money in musical instruments. Of course, if Elvis or Buddy Holly used it, then it's a different story, but this guitar has no particular claim to fame.
I'm always looking for new niches so perhaps guitars might be an interesting one. But where to start? Well, first I need to know something about guitars and considering I know nothing at all, I looked around the net to learn something new.
My starting place is here:
where I found an article titled "Types of Guitars: An Introduction". Perfect for a guitar newbie like me. I learned about:
Acoustic Guitars
1) Classical
2) Steel-top
3) 12-String guitar
4) Resonator
5) Archtop
6) Acoustic Bass
Electric Guitars
I also learned about such terms as whammy bars and electronic pick-ups.
Will I actually make a site on guitars? I don't know yet, but it's a start.
