PayPal Expands To Yahoo Stores
PayPal has long been a mostly-eBay-only payment processor. That is, PayPal is THE currency of choice on eBay, but hasn't been well accepted elsewhere. Paypal, however, is working hard to change this situation.
1. PayPal is now an accepted payment method on Yahoo Stores
2. Apple's wildly popular i-Tunes has accepted PayPal since 2004
3. Dell is also climbing on board the PayPal train
4. Paypal recently bought Verisign for $370 million. Verisign is a payment gateway that facilitates the acceptance of merchant accounts for online vendors
This is good news for e-tailers. The more payment methods we accept, the more business we can and will process.

I like the fact that PayPal has tried to become an accepted form of payment at other venues besides eBay. It's a plus for vendors in that we can get paid much quicker than waiting for the funds to travel from our Yahoo store through our merchant account into our bank. Also, PayPal payments won't count against our merchant bank limits, thereby allowing us to transact more business without worrying about payments getting caught up because of credit limits. The bad news is that the vast majority of people have no idea what PayPal is unless they've shopped at eBay. I would really like to see PayPal advertise through conventional channels and try to educate the buying public. On the seedy side, I've come across a fair amount of fraudulent purchase attempts with PayPal promised payments. Here's your first clue to watch out for. If you try to request funds using the PayPal system and you get a message that the person is not a registered user; don't count on getting paid.
