How To Sell On eBay :: Gun Auctions
Gun Auctions And Firearms Auctions Are Highly Regulated
Online gun auctions have more stringent regulations than other auction sites due to the regulated nature of the gun industry.
eBay is, of course, the leading auction site in the world, but it has lots of restrictions in this area. For example, they do not allow the sale of 'firearms': "Firearms include all "pre-ban," sporting, collectible, curio and relic (C&R), and antique firearms, regardless of their capability to fire a shot."
Further, "Other firearms-related items that are not permitted on eBay include BB guns, air guns, silencers, converters (any item which can convert a firearm to have automatic capability), kits (any kit that can be used to create a firearm), flares, flare launchers, flare guns, and the receivers for flare guns. Illegal components, such as silencers, converters (to convert a firearm to have automatic capability), and short barrels are prohibited."
Legal firearms components can be sold and "related accessories, such as holsters, scopes, and ammunition without propellant may be listed."

In spite of these restrictions, eBay still sells more guns and gun-related items than any other online site. This Fallschirmjaeger Gewehr, the German FG-42, is a WWII German assault rifle and sold for $1,875. However, it was clearly labeled " NON GUN , BATF compliant and ebay compliant" because it could not be made to fire any projectiles.
There are two other gun auction sites that are relatively busy:
* GunBroker.com (http://www.gunbroker.com/) calls itself "The Web's Largest Hunting and Sport Shooting Auction". Some of its categories are: Air Guns, Ammunition, Archery, Firearm Parts, Collectible Firearms, Hunting Gear and Knives.
* Auction Arms (http://www.auctionarms.com) claims to be the largest firearms auction site on the internet, although it isn't clear whether this claim refers to numbers of auctions, dollar volume sold or some other measurement. It divides its firearms into the following categories: Class III, Commemoratives, Cowboy Action Shooting, Curios & Relics, Pre 1898, Revolver, Rifle Semi-Auto Pistol, Shotgun and Single-Shot. The site also sells fishing gear, paintball and toy guns.
Gun auctions clearly require more expertise and trouble than other items routinely sold online. This, of course, is no surprise to anyone knowledgeable about firearms.
